Hot Off the Presses! RHAP in the New York Times

|

We’re kicking of the fall with some great news – on September 18th, 2012 The New York Times highlighted the Reproductive Health Access Project’s work in an article about how to safely switch between contraceptive methods. In the article RHAP’s Education Director, Dr. Ruth Lesnewski, outlined some of the most common reasons why women switch between methods and how to safely avoid gaps in contraceptive coverage. Check out the full text of the New York Times article here.

As Ruth explains in the article, when women switch between birth control methods ineffectively they are more at risk for unintended pregnancy. Even worse, some women who are unhappy with their birth control method and discontinue use never transition to a new method – leaving themselves unprotected. RHAP works to educate patients and train clinicians to prevent this kind of contraceptive gap. Through our monthly Contraceptive Pearls we share evidenced based, contraceptive clinical best practices with our subscriber list of over 1,600 clinicians! RHAP’s patient education fact sheets give women the information they need to make the best medical decisions for themselves. And every year we host “Contraception 101” trainings and workshops for residents, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health care providers so they can stay up-to-date on contraception information.

We’re so proud that RHAP’s work is being featured in a national publication. It means our work is getting noticed and reaching more people.
